About Hapeville Criterium

Bike racing and so much more

Welcome to Hapeville, where small-town America meets trendy arts district. Athletes from around the country are about to converge here for the Hapeville Criterium, the first—and fastest—race of an important weekend in the cycling world. To mark the occasion, fans and families are invited to take in the day’s exciting sights and sounds from nearby Jess Lucas Park, where La Fiesta del Cinco is also taking place. Explore Hapeville’s charming one-day street party, and every now and then, toss a whoop of encouragement at the cyclists whipping by.

Important Update:

After extensive deliberation, we are cancelling May’s Spin the District events in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we wish we could stay the course and keep planning the best racing experience, we believe caution is what’s best for the health and longevity of Spin. Thank you for your support and understanding. We’ll see you in September!

What’s going on

The all-day La Fiesta del Cinco celebration features an incredible lineup of beer, margaritas, tacos and live music all day, plus free activities for kids and adults. Check the Things to Do page for a rundown of activities and up-to-the-minute schedules. Oh—and this being a bike-positive event, we’ll have a complimentary bicycle valet available for anyone arriving on two wheels. You know what that means…get on your bikes and ride!

Kids races!

Bring the kiddos out to be part of the action and start their racing career off right. Just before the pro-woman head to the line, we’ll kick off the evening races with two show-stopping events for the next generation of racers: 1) those who have been riding a good bit and 2) those who are just starting out. It’s all for fun, but pride and participation ribbons could get the best of your youngins. 🙂 Schedule: 3:30 Rider (parent) meeting to get things organized 4:00 Rider call ups (or children round up) Race 1: One lap blast: Children who’ve been riding and feel confident to complete one lap of the approximately 1/2 mile course. Race 2: Straightaway Sprint: Tykes with trikes, training wheels, and striders line up for a mad dash from one loving parent on the starting line to the other parent (or loved one) on the finish line. The more the merrier and the faster they tend to go. Don’t forget their helmet!
